Canvas prints are
truly an amazing and cheap way to make your home or office a beautiful
environment, and they also make fantastic presents for special occasions.
However, like all other kinds of art, canvas art also needs a certain amount of
maintenance and care if it is to last for a long time. It is certainly not a
time consuming task, but if you are familiar with the basics of canvas care,
then you can also ensure that your print will last for years.
The Sun is not their friend
Direct exposure to sunlight for a long period of time could
make your photo on canvas lose its bright colors and become dull and less
focused. Direct sunlight has this similar effect on various other objects in
your home as well of course, but the effects on canvas prints are particularly
apparent and the damage is impossible to restore. Canvas prints are not
intended for outside use, specifically because sunlight and weather conditions
affect their quality, so make sure to always keep them inside and in an area
where the effects of the outside world cannot each your beautiful prints
easily.
They may be water resistant, but don’t overdo it
Although it is possible to order canvas prints online that are made with
waterproof material, this still does not mean that you should expose them to
more moisture than is recommended. Water can really damage the canvas and it
will likely make it wrinkle. If you live in an area that is especially troubled
by humidity, you can solve this issue either by placing the canvas print in a
room that has weather controls through the air conditioning system, or you can
ensure that there is a constant flow of air, so that the excess moisture will
not have enough time to form a mold on your print.
Do not use any abrasives when you clean your canvas print
Your photos on canvas do not require an excessive amount of
cleaning in order to look fresh and beautiful. This is especially true if you
usually use chemicals to clean other area of your home, or even if you use
special chemicals to clean wall paintings. Remember that your canvas print is not made of the same
material as a traditional painting, and if you were to add high concentrations
of alcohol or acid to it, you would very likely damage it irreversibly. Start
by using a slightly damp towel to remove any dust that has accumulated on your
canvas over time. Rinse the towel if it has collected a lot of dirt, and then
repeat the process again. Make sure that you do not soak the actual canvas, as
it will take too long to dry and it may likely change the shape of your photo
on canvas. Leave your canvas to dry in a room that is not humid, and that is
pretty much all you have to do to keep your photos on canvas looking beautiful.
